Nai Yang Beach - Guide Thailand - Sawa discovery

Nai Yang Beach

Set against an idyllic backdrop of pine woods and white sand, the magnificent Nai Yang Beach is a delight for swimmers and nature enthusiasts alike. It is located within the boundaries of Sirinat National Park. Here's a detailed look at this attraction.

Nai Yang Beach, an unmissable Gem of Phuket

Located on the northwest coast of Phuket, Nai Yang Beach exudes an unusual tranquility and serenity. It fortunately remains untouched by the large tourist crowds that overwhelm other beaches on the island. This fortunate circumstance is due to its privileged location within the protected area of Sirinat. Whether cruising through the rich mangrove forests, admiring the halophytic species of marshes and lagoons, indulging in underwater diving, visiting a Buddhist sanctuary, or treating oneself to a rejuvenating massage in a luxurious spa nestled deep within the rainforest, these are just a few of the leisure activities offered during a relaxing stay at Nai Yang Beach. This seaside destination is recommended for those seeking to explore a different side of Phuket beyond bars, alcohol, and sex tourism.

Things to see and do

Nai Yang Beach is a haven for kiteboarding enthusiasts. But beyond this activity, there are numerous attractions worth exploring both on Nai Yang Beach and its surroundings:

Nai Yang Beach

Popular among locals but less known to foreigners, Nai Yang Beach has been spared from rampant tourist development. It's a pleasure to swim here during the dry season or take a leisurely walk among the pine and casuarina trees. The shoreline is rarely deserted, yet you'll encounter fewer crowds.

Morning market

The local market is open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Many tourists linger here to connect with the local community. It offers a wide selection of goods, including fresh food products, clothing, fashion accessories, and handicrafts.

Wat Mongkol Wararam

Take off your sandals for a few hours to explore the Mongkol Wararam temple. With over 260 years of history, its red tiles are a small sculptural masterpiece, and its ordination hall features paintings celebrating Buddha's exemplary pious life. A gymnasium has recently been opened in a wing of the temple.

Sirinat National Park

Just near Nai Yang lies Sirinat National Park. Popular among Thais for picnicking or barbecuing under the trees, the mangrove forest also invites a boat ride. Here, the boundaries between sea and land blur. Walking along the beaches of Nai Thon, Mai Khao, and Nai Yang, you may be surprised to spot a white-bellied sea eagle, a ruddy turnstone, or a monitor lizard. Young green turtles might be your companions. Sirinat Park serves as a natural habitat for several animal and plant species typical of Southeast Asia. It's where you can experience magical moments amidst Phuket's gentle and welcoming nature.

Water sports

Are you a kitesurfing enthusiast? Glide across the waves with a kite. This sport is similar to wakeboarding, but instead of a motorboat, you're powered by a kite. There's a kiteboarding school on the beach offering lessons for beginners and selling appropriate equipment.

Scuba diving also thrives at Nai Yang Beach. The rocky coves near the beach are known for their rich marine life and high-quality coral reefs. You'll delight in swimming alongside green turtles and schools of tropical fish, from small ones like angelfish and boxfish to larger ones like the blue-spotted stingray. If you're lucky, you might even spot a whale shark!
