It consists of limestone mountains that formed around 250 million years ago, according to experts. The name "Khao Ngu" means "hills of snakes," as the area was reportedly once abundant with reptiles.

A Buddhist place of worship

Khao Ngu Stone was a Buddhist spiritual center from the 6th to the 11th centuries. Buddha images found in some caves testify to its significance as a place of worship, reflecting the art of the Dvaravati era.

Former stone mine

For a long time, Khao Ngu Stone was mined for its mineral resources. However, due to environmental degradation, local authorities terminated the mining concession about twenty years ago. The site was then transformed into a tourist attraction, featuring a suspension bridge and various recreational activities for visitors.

Explore one of the park's cultural treasures: the cave housing the Buddha image known as "Phra Phutthachai Tham Ruesi Khao Ngu." This invaluable relic dates back to the Dvaravati period (5th–7th centuries). Alongside this representation, marvel at finely carved Buddha images in sandstone, evoking the Ayutthaya period.

Continue your exploration to Tham Fa Tho. There, on the south wall, marvel at the majestic reclining Buddha amidst deities. In the north part, discover scenes depicting Buddha's disciples and his ascension to Nirvana.
